Trip Itinerary
O Camiño dos Faros, as designed by Spain Yourway, is divided into 5 stages with an average of 9 hours per stage. All this at a pace in which we will stop at all the key points in order to take pictures, eat something and enjoy the walk all day.
Santiago de Compostela - Laxe – Arou – Camariñas – Muxía – Nemiña – Cape Finisterre
Day 01 – Arrival to Santiago de Compostela
Arrival and transfer to your hotel in Santiago de Compostela. Welcome “tapas tour” for dinner.
Day 02 – Laxe
In this day, a private shuttle bus that will join you for the whole trip will lead you to Laxe. Today a cooking class is proposed. Night in Laxe.
Day 03 – Laxe - Arou (18 km)- Altitude is 204 metres out of 18 km-Level: Easy
Today we start the “Camiño” with the shortest and easiest section . After breakfast, we propose to keep going on with the wonderful “Camiño dos Faros”. In the morning, you will be given a packed lunch at the hotel/village to eat by midday.
After walking the Monte da Insua and the Laxe Lighthouse, we will go up to the Peñón de Soesto to check its wonderful beach. We will go on with our journey that brings us closer to Praia de Traba, with its lagoon full of natural life. The end of the stage runs through a spectacular stretch of rocks to Camelle, where we can visit the Museum of Man, before reaching Arou. Once the days’ trip is finished, you will be picked up by the shuttle bus and will be lead to the hotel.
Day 04 – Arou - Camariñas (23,8 km)- Elevation gain of 296 m-Level: Difficult
This day we will travel through the heart of O Camiño dos Faros and A Costa da Morte. A steep coast that we will cover all over, stopping at each point and contemplating the virginity of its landscapes. The small Porto de Santa Mariña gives us access to Praia de Trece and the English Cemetery. From there, we will reach the Vilán Lighthouse, a key point on this road. The end of the stage runs through the entire Arco do Vilán to Camariñas. Once the days’ trip is finished, you will be picked up by the shuttle bus and will be lead to the hotel .
Day 05 – Camariñas - Muxía (32,6 km)- longest stage of all, but also the flattest. It is about 32 kilometres with a difference in altitude of 470 metres-Level: Medium-WE WILL MAKE IT SHORTER BY WALKING FROM CEREIXO 18 Km total.
As this is the longest journey of all, we will shorted it by starting in the town of Cereixo. We will walk through softer landscapes and beautiful villages, quiet sandy beaches of the Rio Grande and the wonderful Praia do Lago bring us closer to Muxía, where we will arrive at the Barca Sanctuary after the ascent to Corpiño Hill. Once the days’ trip is finished, you will be picked up by the shuttle bus and will be led to the hotel to have dinner and to rest. Dinner at Taberna Arco da Vella.
Day 06 – Muxía - Nemiña (25,3 km)- a level of 912 metres. The section is hard until you pass Praia de Moreira, from there it becomes flatter. Level: Difficult
The coast from Muxía to the Touriñán Lighthouse must be discovered. Please note this might be the hardest part of the trail and we should consider it in a relaxed way until reaching the beach of Praia de Moreira. From there, the journey softens until the Touriñán Lighthouse, the western point of Iberian Penninsula. Furthermore, we will be able to discover the Nemiña Beach: the end of this journey won’t disappoint you at all! Once the days’ trip is finished, you will be picked up by the shuttle bus and will be lead to the hotel.
Day 7 – Nemiña - Cape Finisterre (26,9 km)- Altitude of 815 metres, which is especially concentrated in the second stage. Level: Difficult
In this trail of unique natural diversity, this last section could not be missed. From Nemiña to Fisterra a succession of cliffs and beaches seem to be emerging with no way to stop them, one after another. In between, stories like the Cason or the visit to the unexcavated maritime fortress of Castromiñán. Hard stage but nothing will stop you before reaching the Fisterra lighthouse, the perfect culmination of this incredible adventure. Once the days’ trip is finished, you will be picked up by the shuttle bus and will be lead to the hotel to have dinner and to rest. Farewell dinner at O Fragón Restaurant “Menú Degustación with Pairing wines”.
Day 8 – Santiago de Compostela
After breakfast, shuttle bus will pick you up to go to Santiago for a day tour. Guided tour of Santiago with entrances to Cathedral and roofs. Overnight at a beautiful boutique hotel in the Old Quarter. Farewell dinner at a typical restaurant in the old town.
Day 9 – Departure from Santiago de Compostela
After breakfast, transfer to Santiago airport and flight back.
