Porto – Vigo – O Salnes (Albariño Wine Region) – Ribeira Sacra – Santiago de Compostela
Arrival to Porto and pick up the rental car. Drive to your four star boutique hotel.
After breakfast, you will visit several wineries in Gaia-Porto and taste some of their wines. Free time for lunch and to walk around.
After breakfast, you will enjoy a vintage food tour where you will taste vintage Porto cuisine, the best of the past that the city has to offer today. A 3.5 hour guided walking food tour of historic downtown Porto. Guided by a Porto native, you will be led on an exploration of the renaissance that the city is experiencing. From the rebirth of specialty food shops, through the new restaurants adopting old ways, to traditional buildings finding new purposes, this tour is for those who enjoy experiencing the best of the past with a modern twist.
After breakfast, you will head to Galicia-North Spain. On the way, we recommend stop at the beautiful town of Vilanova de Cerveira on the border with Spain, for a nice cup of Portuguese coffee. You will then cross the border to visit an Albariño winery for some wine tastings, and the visit to the cellar. After lunch, visit the impressive Celtic ruins of Santa Tecla, where you can learn about the Galician Celtic origins, and admire the views from the very top of the mountain. You will drive to Vigo in the evening and check into your very well located boutique hotel in the city center
After breakfast, you will get your sailing clothes on to spend a day sailing to Cies Islands, part of the Natural Park of Atlantics Islands and voted one of the best beaches in the world. Once on the island, you can do a great hiking walk to the lighthouse, followed by a seafood lunch. Time off to enjoy the beach. Once back in Vigo, you will gather together for a tapas tour for dinner.
After a morning off in Vigo to explore the city and do some shopping, you will drive to Albariño wine region. On arrival, check in at your charming boutique hotel. Free time for some rest and a dip in the pool. You will have dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, put on rubber boots to do a shell fishing activity in Ria de Arousa. From the hand of a professional shellfish picker (“mariscadora”), you will get to know the daily life of this traditional and admired profession. You will learn different extraction methods of bivalves (clams, cockles, etc.), different arts they use, how to differentiate the various species that are traded, everything related to the production, harvesting and selling. Time off for lunch. After lunch, you will visit an Albariño winery in a former Pazo, “Pazo Baión”. Walk among the vineyards and have a tasting to end the visit. When you arrive at the hotel and after a long day, put on your cooking gloves and aprons for a traditional Galician cooking class at the hotel. From the hand of a local cook, you will learn how to cook “empanada”, Galician octopus and other traditional dishes of our cuisine. You will have dinner of what we have prepared together with exquisite local wines.
In the morning, after breakfast, leave the Albariño Wine Region and transfer to Ribeira Sacra Wine Region. On arrival to your accommodation, a beautiful “Pazo” and old Manor House, you go to visit two wineries of the area. You will have a wine tasting and lunch in one of them, followed by a special boat ride along the Canyons of the River Sil. In the evening, time off to do a nice walk around the “Miradores” to see the Canyons from above. Dinner at the hotel.
In the morning, after breakfast, change the scenery to go to the River Miño, to visit the amazing town of Belesar where you can stop for lunch in an old winery right by the river. Back on road, you will go from Belesar to the Abadía da Cova winery where you can taste their famous Godello and Mencia wines, and all of this, looking over the “Cabo do Mundo” meander.
After breakfast, drive to Santiago de Compostela for the visit to the famous city and the capital of Galicia. A place where every year millions of people and pilgrims come from all over the world, many of them after doing the “Camino de Santiago”. Its historical center has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. After checking into your boutique hotel in the center, you will have the rest of the day off to explore the city. In the afternoon, a great tapas tour around the Old Town where you will visit the Old Town, the Cathedral, and the famous Market.
After breakfast, drive to Porto (3 hours drive) and car rental drop off at the airport. End of our services.
