Trip Itinerary

You will start this incredible route in the vibrant city of Madrid to continue with the neighboring country of Portugal. A trip through beautiful Lisbon, Sintra, Coimbra and Porto to end up in the unexplored but amazing Galicia, in the North of Spain.

Madrid – Toledo – Lisboa – Sintra – Coimbra – Douro/Amarante Wine Región – O Salnés (Albariño Wine Region) – Oporto

Day 01 – Arrival - Madrid
On arrival, private transfer to your hotel in downtown Madrid. Time off at your own leisure to rest or have a walk.
Day 02 – Madrid
After breakfast, meet with your tour guide for a nice private walking tour of Madrid. On this tour you will see the most emblematic and lovely places of the Spanish capital, get a general idea of Madrid, and discover its traditions and main monuments, but also the hidden corners and the mysteries of its old town. In the evening, get ready for a “flamenco show” dinner experience at Corral de la Morería, the most known “tablao” flamenco in the world.
Day 03 – Madrid
After breakfast, at prearranged time, guided group tour to Toledo. Located 70 km away from Madrid Toledo is a beautiful city-museum, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is one of the oldest towns in Europe and has a great artistic beauty and buildings from almost all periods in history (Arabian, Gothic, Mudéjar, Renaissance and Baroque style). Toledo is called the “City of the Three Cultures”, since Christians, Muslims and Jews lived together. In the XVI century, it was also home to the great painter El Greco.
Day 04 – Lisbon - Sintra
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and flight to Lisbon. On arrival, private transfer to your hotel in Sintra.
Day 05 – Lisbon - Day trip
After breakfast you will have to take the train to Lisbon (about 35 mins) and meet the guide for a half day guided group tour to Lisbon. See and taste your way through the city on this adventure packed Lisbon tour. With historic highlights, culinary delights, and local interaction, it’s a unique insight into the heart of this amazing place. You will explore the magnetic neighborhood of Mouraria – a melting pot of cultures from far and wide, and a place you won’t see on other Lisbon tours. Portugal’s seafaring past has allowed many different cultural influences to contribute to the richness of modern-day Lisbon. Pass small churches, mosques, and shops selling goods from far-flung places. Learn about Fado (Lisbon’s unique music) and walk past the birthplace of the legendary Maria Severa, Fado’s first superstar who used to sing in Lisbon’s taverns many years ago. Soak up some Lisbon sightseeing highlights and history while visiting churches and taverns, then stop to taste Portuguese cheese and authentic, locally made marmalade. Explore the highlights of the cultural and bohemian districts of Chiado, Bairro Alto, and Bica as you will travel through Lisbon. You’ll stop off at a gorgeous viewpoint in Bairro Alto to take in the Lisbon panorama and have a refreshing drink. After the tour you will have time off to explore the rest of the city.
Day 06 – Sintra
Day off at your own leisure to visit Sintra, or you can take the train back to Lisbon.
Day 07 – Coimbra
After breakfast, at the convenient time, train from Sintra to Coimbra (about three hours).
Day 08 – Douro Wine Region - Amarante
In the morning, walk around Coimbra. In the afternoon, pick up car your rental car and drive to Douro Wine Region. Night in a village in Douro, such as Penafiel or Amarante. Amazing scenery and beautiful area with all the wineries.
Day 09 – Douro Wine Region - Amarante
Douro region to explore at your own leisure. Drive to towns such as Pinhao, Peso da Regua, etc. to see the beautiful scenery of the river and vineyards all around. Possible visits to some Douro wineries.
Day 10 – Salnes region. Albariño Wine Region
At your convenient time, drive to Galicia-Salnes area, south Galicia (about 2 hours driving). A beautiful place for landscapes and Albariño white wine.
Day 11 – Salnes region. Albariño Wine Region
Bike ride through Illa de Arousa, the beautiful scenery, where you can see the fisherman activity in the area, and also de “Mariscadoras” ladies collecting clams from the ocean. One of the best places for seafood. In the afternoon, you can explore the towns of Cambados and O Grove, both beautiful seaside towns, and visit an Albariño winery.
Day 12 – Porto
At your convenient time, drive to Porto and return the rental car.
Day 13 – Porto
Half day tour of the city and visits to some Porto wineries across the river.
Day 14 – End of the services
After breakfast and depending on your flight time, transfer to the airport for your flight back.
